Michael Bishop

Michael Bishop's research focuses on how we should think and how we should live.

Bishop's approach to philosophy is inclusive in two ways. First, he tries to develop views that combine the insights of philosophers and scientists, on the grounds that it's better to make sense of more good insights (from philosophers and scientists) than fewer good insights (from just philosophers). Second — and he realizes this might be an unattainable goal — Bishop aims to develop views that can be used by people to improve the quality of their lives.
