About
Minorities and Philosophy FSU is a graduate organization working to advance the position of minorities in the field of philosophy and to serve as a support network for minority philosophers and ideas. We are proud to serve as one of the 180 chapters of Minorities and Philosophy International.
The members of MAP FSU work at creating and maintaining an open, welcoming environment for anyone interested in the field of philosophy. MAP FSU is committed to allowing for the exchange of ideas on all topics of philosophical interest while promoting equal respect of all individuals, regardless of race, gender, class, sexuality, disability, culture or native language.
In addition to an annual spring conference (for more on which see below), MAP also maintains a mentorship program that supports FSU's undergraduate philosophers by connecting them with MA or Ph.D. mentors in graduate programs. MAP meets once a month and meeting times vary. Information on all meetings are sent in the week prior to the meeting to all graduate and undergraduate students in the philosophy department via email. Non-majors or students interested in the mentorship program are welcome to reach out to any of MAP FSU's leadership team for more information.
